Bill, your kindness and understanding will never be forgotten.
You were the best softball coach. I can still see you throwing your glasses and hat in the air and yelling when you thought our team was being treated unfairly.
You seemed to understand everything I thought I was going thru at 15 years old. ha ha.
You were a true professional, and an honorable man who loved his family very much.
Thank you for being my friend, my softball coach, and mentor.
See you heaven someday, Mary Ray

To Mary and the children of William Ruf, my condolences to all of you. I didn´t know your father well, but I know that he had wonderful children who were a delight to teach years ago. I´m sure you honored him by working hard at your chosen careers, and being good, decent men and women. God bless each of you.

Oh Mary, I just now got the news that Bill has passed. My family and I had no idea! I don´t have words for how badly I feel about missing Bill´s funeral. I think you know how much we all loved Bill, and I hope there´s a place in heaven where Joe and Bill can sit around and have a good ole "gut raw"! God bless you and your family. Jeanne

Praying for your family that the Lord would bring you comfort. May His face shine on you and bring you peace. Mr Ruf sounds like he was a really great man. Enjoy and reflect on all of the memories. Love, Lora Dosen

Bill was the best coach we girls from Carter Lake ever had. He was tough, strict, but taught us to play fair, be kind to those less fortunate, and helped to mold us into determined individuals.
I tell stories about riding in his red convertible like a load of crazy girls. He was probably the best role model I had in my life and I will never forget him.
I am so sorry for your loss and that you didn't get to enjoy him longer.

In his early days at Ralston High School, I remember the older car that he drove. It was always stuffed full with softball equipment. He dedicated his life at Ralston helping kids.
