Tracey Carey Obituary
A native of Athens, Ms. Carey was the daughter of Richard Ted Carey and Melody Whitman Carey. She graduated from Oconee County High School in 1985 and had been the office manager for Paul Martin Management for the last 14 years. Ms. Carey was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her daughter, Heather LaShane Carey, of Winterville; son, Devin Cole Venable; their father, Kelly Venable, of Crawford; son, Alexander "Alex" Edward Denton, and his father, Todd Denton, of Athens; brothers, Richard Ted Carey Jr., of Watkinsville, and Dennis Gregory Carey, of Athens; sister, Monica Carey Allen, of Lexington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 30, at Oconee Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. David Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, at Bernstein Funeral Home.

I am saddened by this terrible tradgedy. I work for American Pest Control and saw Tracey from time to time at Martin Manaagement. She was always pleasent to be around. I did not realize until today that my mother (Reba) and Tracey's mother (Melody) are great friends from the K-Mart days. My thoughts and prayers are with Tracey's family during this sad,sad time. Tracey will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
