Betty Fatchett Stockwell

Stockwell, Betty Fatchett, passed away in her own home on Christmas morning 2013. She was 91.

Betty was born to Ray and Rosa Fatchett on a farm near Blissfield, Michigan on Aug. 16, 1922.

Betty received a BA in Music from Eastern Michigan University and taught public school music in Belleville, MI for 2 years before moving with her parents to Anaheim, CA in 1945.

Betty met Darwin Stockwell at the Salem Evangelical Church and they married in the fall of 1946. Betty started a music studio in her home in downtown Anaheim, teaching private and child classes for 64 yrs. Betty developed her spiritual life at an early age and her personal journey with her Lord Jesus became most important to her.

Betty and Darwin raised four children, Pamela, Douglas, Robert and Gregory all of whom attended Anaheim public schools. Both Betty and Darwin spent many family activities involved in the life of the church. Betty was also extensively involved in United Methodist Women, having served in several capacities; past President of her PEO chapter; Music Teacher's Assoc. and was very active in teaching not only a traditional approach to piano, but also the Suzuki Method. Betty was an accomplished pianist, spending many hours accompanying many local artists, including her children's violin recitals.

The family spent many vacations on camping trips at various sites throughout the U.S., and as Darwin built several mountain cabins, the family spent many hours enjoying Lake Gregory and it's beauty. Family activities were the main focus for Betty and Darwin, and extended family gatherings with many relatives for birthdays, holidays special celebrations were frequent. Betty's special passion for the LA Lakers gave her great joy for the past several years.

Betty is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and extended family. She was preceded in death by Darwin, her parents and her brother, Robert.

The family is hosting a celebration of life on Saturday, January 11, at 3pm at Anaheim United Methodist Church, 1000 S State College, Anaheim, CA 92804. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Betty's church, Anaheim United Methodist Church, and/or the hospice group at Gerinet Healthcare 12620 Erickson Ave, Suite A, Downey, CA 90242.
