Dorothy J. Marsh

DOROTHY J. MARSH, M.D. Born in Monrovia, California, October 16, 1915 Dorothy Jane Marsh, who lived in Glendale, California, for almost 90 years passed away April 10, 2005. Her accomplishments were many. Among them being selected to participate in the 1934 U.S. Olympic diving team, as well as graduating from the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, at Los Angeles where she earned the degree Doctor of Osteopathy and later a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medecine. In her specialty practice of OB/GYN in Glendale, California, she delivered more than 8,000 babies in her 50 years of practice. Her many awards included "Appreciation for Community Service" in 1989 by the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors; A Chair in Reproductive Biology was established in her name by Dr. Marsh at the University of California, Irvine, California College of Medicine. The UC Irvine Alumni Association honored her at the 29th Lauds and Laurels for Outstanding Contributions, the top award, the Extraordinarius was bestowed on her. She held various teaching positions at both schools of medicine as well as Glendale Adventist Medical Center during her career in medicine. Survivors include her sister Mary Joslin, of Buckeye, Arizona, and nephews Robert Joslin of Lander, Wyoming, and Bill Joslin of Glendale, Arizona. At her request, there will be no service. Her remains will be cremated and her ashes spread at sea.
