Rebecca Millitzer

1924 - 2016

Millitzer, Rebecca passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016 at the age of 92. Becky was born on July 10, 1924 in Bristol, Georgia to Alvin James Thomas, Sr. and Minnie Craven Thomas. When she was still an infant, her family moved and settled in Orlando, Florida where her father founded Thomas Lumber Company. Becky graduated from Orlando High School and then attended the University of Georgia where she obtained a degree in English. Upon graduation, she returned to Orlando and in 1947 married Max Millitzer. They had 4 daughters. Over the years, Max, Becky and their girls enjoyed summers at their beach house in Cocoa Beach, weekends on the lakes in Windermere and traveling in their Winnebago. When the girls were grown, Max and Becky bought a second home in Linville, NC where they spent summers with friends and enjoyed visits from their growing family. After Max passed away in 1996, Becky decided it was time to travel and she treated her girls to many wonderful adventures. She loved Europe and especially cruising the Mediterranean. Italy and Greece always had a special place in Becky's heart. Becky has now traveled to her final resting place and is at peace. Becky was a member of The Country Club of Orlando, The Rosalind Club, The Junior League of Orlando and St. Michael's Episcopal Church. As one of six children, all of whom raised their families in Orlando, Becky remained very close to them, as well as many friends known since her elementary and high school days. Becky was predeceased by her husband, Max, her parents AJ and Minnie Thomas, her siblings, Doris, AJ, Jr., Valdeen, Mary and Billy. She is survived by her daughters, Kem Harward, Jan (Nick) Geeker, Ann (David) Luff and Pam (Rick) Arkins; grandchildren Karen (Matt) Goolsby, Lee (Joanna) Geeker, Emily (Dyar) McComb and Chad (Kylie) Luff, step-grandchildren Bryan (Erin) Arkins and Dan (Jade) Arkins and great grandchildren Peyton and Alex Goolsby, Carter and Chase McComb, Marin and Chandler Luff, John and Cole Geeker, and Cami and Caleb Arkins, and her loyal dog JJ. We would like to thank those angels in our time of need, Happy, Irena, Ethel and Gwen. A Celebration of Becky's life will be held at St. Michaels Episcopal Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made Hospice of the Comforter,480 W.
