Betty Margaret Sullivan

1928 - 2024

Betty Margaret Sullivan age 96 of Oshkosh went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 8, 2024. She was born in Oshkosh on July 7, 1928, the daughter of William and Gertude Schmiedel. She married Dr. Thomas Sullivan on September 20, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

After graduation from high school Betty was employed at the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce and later in the mayor's and city assessor's offices at Oshkosh City Hall.

Betty and Tom lived in Livonia, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit where Tom was engaged in the practice of podiatry. They later moved to New Berlin, Wisconsin and Tom practiced in Wauwatosa, Wis. While in Detroit Betty was employed as secretary to an editor of The American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers. They returned to Oshkosh in 2000.

Betty was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oshkosh and was active in Grace Forever Young, a senior's organization. She volunteered for a number of years in the Waukesha Office of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Betty is survived by her husband Tom; nieces Beth (Gary) Goldberg of Denver, Co., Kathy (Hugh) Tollack of Dallas, Tx.; nephews Gary (Tina) Schmiedel of Oshkosh, Patrick (Lucy) Sullivan of Racine, Tom (Lori) Sullivan of Kenosha. She is also survived by grand nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert and her sister-in-law Marcella Schmiedel.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14th at 1:30 P.M. with visitation from 12:30 to time of service at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Colin Rieke officiating. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church.

Betty's family deeply appreciates the kind and thoughtful care rendered by the staff at Bethel Home and the hospice staff at Aurora Healthcare, Oshkosh.
