Faribault - Betty Hoffman, age 92, of Faribault, died on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Homestead Hospice House, Owatonna.
Funeral services will be held at Hope United Methodist Church, Faribault, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Jef Olson, officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Betty Louise, was born on July 23, 1930, to Clarence W. and Gertrude A. (Warsinski) Miller in Rochester. She spent her early years living in Owatonna with her parents and great grandmother Elizabeth Carpenter. She attended kindergarten in Owatonna at the little red building on Main Street between the Lutheran and Baptist Churches.
In the summer of 1936, she moved with her parents to Faribault when her father began his career with Prudential Insurance Company. She attended Central Elementary School and graduated from Faribault High School in 1948. During her high school years, she was employed part-time at the Farmer Seed and Nursery, Faribault Canning Company and Faribault Theatre Company, all of Faribault.
Following her high school graduation, she was employed by F.W. Woolworth Co. of Faribault, Federated Insurance Co. of Owatonna, City of Faribault in the engineer's department, Richfield Bank and Trust Co., and Norwest Bank (later known as Wells Fargo).
On November 15, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Allan E. Meese. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1955. One year later she met the man who would become her second husband, Robert J. Hoffman. She and Bob were married on August 11, 1956. Bob preceded her in death on July 16, 1982.
She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, V. F. W. Auxiliary in Owatonna, American Legion Auxiliary of Faribault, Faribault Eagles Auxiliary, REAC Club, Owatonna Solo Parents and Singles, Faribault Area Senior Center and Faribault Over 50 Singles.
Betty enjoyed reading and going to the movies. She collected dolls and enjoyed traveling. She spent her free time singing karaoke and playing bingo. She was a bowler for over 70 years.
Betty is survived by her two children, Mark of Malone, Wis. and Julie Carlson (and Charles Swain) of Owatonna; grandchildren, Emily (Tyler) Strickler, Sidney Carlson and Noah Hoffman; great grandchildren, Jillian, Amelia and Callahan Strickler; and her special friend and companion, Gene Kispert of Owatonna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and her fiancé Myron Sell.
