George G. Burnett

George G. Burnett, 86, of Celebration, FL (formerly of Palatka), passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022, at his residence following a brief illness.
George was born in War, WV, and grew up in Princeton, WV. He moved to Palatka in 1971, coming from Rockledge and in 2003 he moved to Celebration. He served honorably in the Army National Guard in Princeton, WV. He worked for the Putnam County School System and retired in 2003 after 32 years of service, first working as an Industrial Arts (carpentry) teacher at Palatka Central High School and Palatka South High School, and later he transferred to the School Board office where he worked as an Occupational Specialist serving all of Putnam County. He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Palatka and was currently a serving member of Celebration Community Church in Celebration. He was also a former member of the Palatka Lions Club, the Palatka Elks Lodge, and the Palatka Rotary Club. He was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed helping strangers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Burnett, who passed away when George was only 5 years old; his mother, Mary Pendleton; and a brother, William Burnett.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Nancy Burnett; two daughters, Donna Power (John) and Kay Miraglia (Steve); a son, Tracy Burnett (Lisa); a sister, Eloise Ann Rife; six grandchildren, Justin Fales (Kelly), Jacob Fales (Eva), Lizzie Freeman (Lance), Stephen Miraglia (Ashtin), John Garland Power, and Nora Burnett; two great grandchildren, Jude Fales and Hayden Fales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 19, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Ken Behr officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the start of the service.
