Teresa Marie "Teri" Reyes

1936 - 2024

Teresa (Teri) Marie Reyes, age 88, passed away peacefully in her Port Angeles home on February 16th, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born on January 17th, 1936, to Howard Maupin and Dorothy Smith (Klahn), Mom was raised in Forks, Washington, and attended Forks High School. She loved the Forks area. Her family homesteaded on the Quillayute Prairie, where she grew up with her brothers, Perry, Eddy, and Bert. She was a proud granddaughter of pioneer Mina Smith, after whom Mina Smith Road is named. Many family picnics were held, and memories made, at the end of this road overlooking the Dickey River.

On November 27th, 1970, Mom married the love of her life, Gary Reyes Sr. Together, they built their dream family home on what is now Old State Road. Spending countless hours landscaping their yard and planting her garden, Mom took great pride in the vegetables and flowers she grew and loved sharing them with others. She was always looking for another plant to rescue.

Mom worked many years as a bartender and proudly considered herself a Mixologist. She created countless lifelong friendships during this time and cherished each one dearly. She embodied the entrepreneurial spirit, creating a thriving business, Teri's Bait, which served both Clallam and Jefferson counties. Later, she and Dad opened Prime Time Video in Port Angeles. Mom was a dedicated and hardworking provider for her family.

Mom is survived by her loving husband, Gary, and their children: Thomas, Pam, Tommy, Kim, Jeff, and Gary Jr. She also leaves behind her stepchildren: Debra, Rob, and Kathi. Her only surviving brother, Bert, resides in Anchorage, Alaska. Mom is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Debbie Gardinier and Cheryl Wymer; her brothers, Perry Maupin, Eddy Maupin, and Richard Klahn; her father, Howard Maupin; her mother, Dorothy Klahn; and her loving stepfather, Louis Klahn.

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, June 22nd, at the Upper Elwha Community Club, 90 Old State Road in Port Angeles. All are welcome to come and share their stories and memories of her. Food and refreshments will be provided. Immediately following, there will be a graveside service at the Quillayute Prairie Cemetery on Mina Smith Road.
