Stanley A. Snyder
LIVERPOOL - Stanley Albert "Shiner" Snyder, 86, of 408 S. Market Street, Liverpool, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 in the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born in Liverpool, Perry County, PA on February 13, 1917, the son of the late Jay L. and Ruth (Zaring) Snyder.
On December 17, 1939, he was married to the former Janet E. Frymoyer in the Lutheran parsonage, Liverpool. His passing breaks a marital union of nearly 64 years.
Mr. Snyder was educated in the Liverpool schools. He retired in February 1982 from Keystone Railway Equipment Company, Camp Hill, where he was employed as a painter for 12 years. Previously he was a baker and cook for the former Barbeque Cottage, Front Street, Harrisburg for 23 years. Mr. Snyder was active in the Meals-On-Wheels program and served as its delivery person in the Liverpool area for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Liverpool United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees; the Administrative Board; was head usher; and was a member of the Men's Bible Class of its Sunday school. Additionally, Mr. Snyder was a member of the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance League; the Perry County Sportsmen's Club, the National Rifle Association, and the Chauffeurs, Teamsters and Helpers, Local Union No. 776, Harrisburg, PA.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, reading and a variety of sports.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet are 2 children, son, Max R. Snyder and wife, Debra of Seattle, Washington and daughter, Bertha D. Mangle of Liverpool; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Snyder; 2 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Isaiah Tharp; 1 cousin, Samuel Snyder of RR #4, Duncannon. Mr. Snyder was the last of his immediate family being preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Vincent and Matthew Tharp.
There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, November 22, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the Liverpool United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lisa K. Klinger officiating. Interment will follow the service in Liverpool Union Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
