Douglas Reeves Obituary

Douglas L. Reeves

1949-2013

Douglas L. Reeves was born on 27 March 1949 in Valparaiso, FL to Ivalene Johnson Reeves and Lorez Reeves. He grew up in the Svea Community with his siblings, Sharon, Linda, Dwan, and Dianne.

Doug graduated as salutatorian of the Class of 1967 from Laurel Hill School and then joined the U. S. Navy. After his service with the U. S. Navy, Doug graduated from OWJC and attended UWF. He spent the remainder of his career working as a wine and liquor salesman.

He has two children, Shawn Reeves and Tara Vollertsen. Doug also has four grandchildren, Christina and Caden Reeves and Griffin and Zoe Vallertsen.

Doug was an avid fisherman, both fresh water and deep sea. He loved fishing Granddaddy Perry Reeves' pond and Pond Creek at Svea. He also loved gardening, collecting driftwood and playing cards with friends.

Doug lost his battle with kidney cancer on May 4, 2013.

A visitation will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, FL, on May 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:30. Burial services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Svea Cemetery, 8922 Highway 85N, Laurel Hill, FL.
