George McDonald Obituary

Untitled GEORGE WASHINGTON MCDONALD
"PAPA"
MAY 14, 1926 -
DECEMBER 8, 2009

George was born to Will and Anna Hopkins McDonald in Muscogee, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Johnny McDonald; his sisters, Alma Seals, Jewel Henderson, Myrtle Alderman; and his loving wife of 60 years, Thelma McDonald; and his son-in-law, Mike Caro.
He is survived by his brother, Tommy McDonald; sisters, Eula Harris and Annie Weekley; daughters, Wanda G. Caro and Jeannie Walther (Billy); his grandson, Bryan Caro (Shone) and their children, Kathryn, Courtney and Bryson Caro; his granddaughters, Stacey White (Buddy) and son, Caden White; Georgina Hicks (Kevin) and their children, Kole, Gracie and Jesse Hicks; Melissa Meadows and son, Mason Johnston; and his special life long friend, Charlie Walker (Lisa).
George was a member of Molino First Assembly and Escambia County Sheriffs Posse.
Integrity, loyalty, honesty, dedication to God, to his wife, Thelma, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George never stopped believing that God would totally heal him and that he would see again. The best friend you could ever have, the best man his family has ever known.
He was not only known as "Uncle George" by his nieces and nephews, if you were fortunate to meet him and talked to him for a short while, by the time you were leaving you were hugging his neck goodbye calling him Uncle George and telling him when you were coming back to see him again.
George McDonald took pride in everything he did, he believed in doing it right the first time. He was very proud to be a member of Operating Engineers Local 653 Mobile Alabama for 55 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a natural in his trade and was respected by all of his co-workers. He was from the old school, if George told you something, you could bank on it! His word was based on a gentleman's handshake. George's time on this earth and the many lives he has touched, in his 83 years will be forever missed and family and friends will hold him in their hearts and memories forever.
The family would like to send a special thanks to his caregivers Sherry Black (ButterBean), Tina Butler (Bubble Gum) and Bobbie Sanders. God Bless you all!!!
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 between 6:00 to 8:00pm at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
Revered Fred Stallworth is officiating and pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make contributions to Covenant Hospice, 5401 N. 12th Ave, Pensacola, FL 32504.

Wanda,
Once again you have had to face intense pain. We are so sorry for your loss.

We have never known better people than your parents. They were God's representatives on this earth. We feel that we know all of your family well from Bro. George's stories. You could tell how important his family and his Lord was to him. It was a joy to have pastored them. You are in our prayers.

Charles & Linda Lambert

December 15, 2009

Our names are Charles and Linda Lambert, George and Thelma's neighbors for 26 years. When we first moved in at the "Red House at the top of the hill", as George used to call it...we became good friends right away.

Two weeks ago, while visiting George at his bed side, we talked about the good old days of our "neighborship" and we prayed with George. It was a very moving time and as usual we realized how lucky we were to have been their neighbors for all these years. The Lord has truly blessed us for that relationship. Our son Mark was one of George's doctors, so our families had close ties with this wonderful man.

Jeannie, I know your heart is broken and you have lost your best friend as well as your father. You continue to be the good woman that you are and continue to live the life that you were raised as by your parents. Uncle George always talked about how he loved you and how proud he was of you. Uncle George, has always been so special to me, I have always loved him with all my heart, kind of like a granddaddy, I will always remember how much he told me he loved me and how special i was, guess for the reason of helping raise my mother (Annie Weekley his little baby sister). I will speak for her, she loved him with every ounce of love from her heart and always said, she wouldn't have made it so many times if it hadn't been for him. He fed and took care of her, even when she was sick as a child, they were so close and when daddy ask to marry her, Uncle George was the one that gave her away. We have had some tough times lately with sickness in our family but they will meet again in heaven. I love you and my heart bleeds for you, but things will get better. Remember the just has to suffer for the unjust, that was some of you Daddy's famous words, i've heard him say it so many times. God Bless you and pray for strenght.

Love, Patsy
