Philip Y. Vaughn, Sr., 88, has gone to his Lord, Jesus Christ. He has reunited with his "sweetheart", JoAnn, his wife of 60 years.

Born Nov 28, 1927 to Walter and Eva Vaughn, Phil was raised in Muscogee, FL. He graduated from Tate High and the Univ. of Florida (Class of 1950). He married JoAnn Crouch in 1950, and they moved to Pensacola. Phil was a devoted father to his 3 children and a loving granddaddy to his 4 grandchildren.

Phil was the Production Mgr at Gulf Paper Co. (later St. Regis Paper Co., Folding Carton) for over 30 years. Starting in 1986, he sold insurance and investments, primarily to educators, for 20 years.

Phil & JoAnn were members of McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church, enjoying many years of worship and life-long friendships. Phil was a fixture in the Session and choir. They were also avid UF Gator fans. Phil loved playing sports, including golf, softball, bowling, hunting & fishing. Well into his 80's, he played volleyball weekly and won many gold medals in local Seniors Games.

Phil was very outgoing, loving social gatherings, practical jokes, and aiming a funny remark at anyone who took themselves too seriously.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Buran, and sons Philip (Maria) and Jeffrey (Diane); and grandchildren Trey Blanchard, and Benjamin, Paulina and Rachel Vaughn.

Visitation will be held at McIlwain Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July19, 2016 from 10am until the service begins at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church, Emerald Coast Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
