Anita Conner Obituary

Anita “Susan Conner passed away on October 11, 2018 after five years of living with brain cancer. Susan was born May 4, 1959 in Edenton, NC to George Alpheus Conner Jr. and Anita Hoggard Conner. She worked as a paralegal for many years and eventually served as an administrative assistant in the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Physiological Sciences. Besides her parents, Susan was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew “Butch Wampler and a sister Ginger Meyer. She is survived by a sister, Betsy C. Conner of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Kim Brennan (Stephen) of Florida; a granddaughter, Emily Brennen; a sister-in-law, Janie Wampler and a nephew Scotty Wampler of West Point VA; and many special cousins and dear friends. Susan was an avid reader who loved Agatha Christie books. She also enjoyed scrapbooking with friends, watching Redskins football and NASCAR racing. Susan especially enjoyed working with the students, staff and faculty at EVMS. She volunteered with the Employee Giving Campaign at EVMS, for which in 2013 she received the first EVMS Philanthropy Champion award for her fundraising activities. This was one of her most valued accomplishments. A living Celebration of Life was held for Susan on July 28. 2018 at the Obici House in Suffolk, VA, where family and friends gathered with Susan and released butterflies in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the EVMS Foundation. Please make gifts payable to the EVMS Foundation and indicate in memory of Susan Conner on your gift. Gifts can be mailed to EVMS Foundation, PO Box 5, Norfolk, VA 23501 or online at www.evms.edu/givenow. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
