Charles Alderman Obituary
Virginia Beach - Captain Charles B. Alderman (Ret) passed away peacefully on May, 10, 2017 at Sentara Heart Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born in Snow Hill, NC to Asa and Jessie Alderman. He was predeceased by his parents and his loving sister Helen Harper and her husband John.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Carole Shean Alderman, and their two daughters, Gail and Marcia; Gail and her husband Stephen Nimitz and their sons, Charlie, William, Steve and his wife Erin, Robert and his wife Ashley and great-granddaughter, Eliza. Marcia and her husband Steve Humphrey, sons Macon and Bryce, and daughter Madeleine. Also, dearly loved Niece Lilah Anne Harper Gietz and her husband Bill, and great nieces Adrianne and Bonnie and their families, all from Morehead City, NC, and his beloved nephew Johnny Harper of Snow Hill, NC. Also, many cherished friends.
"The Captain" was a UNC fan for life, having graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He joined the United States Navy Supply Corp. in 1953 and served his country faithfully for 29 years. Duty stations included Vietnam, the USS Yorktown CVS-10, where in 1968 they recovered the Apollo 8 spacecraft, Midway Island, Bermuda and Rota, Spain; making life-long friends at each stop along the way. After his retirement from the Navy he continued to work in the defense industry for another 15 years.
A Memorial service will be held at Galilee Church, 3928 Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 on May 26th at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, 740 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, or at www.vbvrs.org.

We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Your memory is a keepsake, from which we'll never part. God has you in His arms. We have you in our hearts. We have lost a dear friend. Captain, I have a lot of great memories of our times together starting in 1990, performing NALCOMIS IMA installations. You always had time for any and everyone and you sir was one of the major reasons why our NALCOMIS teams, became the NALCOMIS FAMILY. Rest in peace shipmate and we will see you at the next great muster.
