Dan Gallup Obituary
Virginia Beach - Dan D. Gallup, 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. He was born on April 8, 1930 in Princess Anne County to the late Walter B. and Lolace Willeford Gallup. Dan was a self-made man. He owned Gallup's Market on Birdneck Road and retired from The Virginia Beach Sheriffs Department. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma M. Gallup, a son, Roger B. Gallup and daughter Pam Pine and her husband Bill, two grandchildren; Ben Gallup and his wife Cindy and Jessica Mueller and her husband Karl, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Ann Williams, Joan Brinkley and a brother Allie Gallup. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will be private.

I worked for a short time with Dan in Civil Process, being a Yankee from up north ,I will always think of him "as a fine ole southern gentleman". In my later years, when I was serving papers on Knotts Island ,Dan would help me by verifing who lived where.I found him to be a very kind man....I am sure there are many who will greatly miss him.

So sorry to hear about Mr Gallop. I worked with him a lot of years at the Sheriff's Department. He was a real kind and nice man.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Dan. He was great friends with my father the late Capt. Don Ewell and was very gracious to me letting me and dad dock our boats in his canal. Dan loved Miss Thelma and his dogs. My prayers go out to his whole family in this time of loss. Dan even boought the first decoy I ever made. He will be missed.
