Maggie Vaughan Obituary

Maggie L. Vaughan
Franklin - Maggie Lankford Vaughan, 95, of the 400 block of Norfleet Street died August 21, 2013 at Riverside Convalescent Center in Smithfield, VA. She was the daughter of the late Edgar L. and Maggie L. Vaughan and was predeceased by four sisters, Irma Vaughan Beale, Sara Vaughan Darden, Eddie Mae Vaughan Woods and Temperance Vaughan and a brother, Jesse Frank Vaughan.
Ms. Vaughan was an employee of the former Jones Hayes Company before accepting a position as dental assistant for the late Dr. James P. Broaddus for whom she worked thirty years. She was an active member of Sycamore Baptist Church, a member of Franklin Chapter Order of Eastern Star #128, former member of Franklin Woman's Club and former member of the Board of Visitors of Chowan University.
Survivors include her devoted niece, Annette Woods West and husband, Jim, of Sarasota, FL; two great nephews, Joel C. West and wife, Dr. Natalie West, and their children, Hayden and Harper of Towson, MD and Aaron R. West and wife, Kristin, and their children, Charlotte, Hudson and Everett of Sarasota, FL.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 25, at Sycamore Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump and Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. At Maggie's request, memorial donations may be made to the Sycamore Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 31120 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, VA 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
