Margaret Conklin Obituary


Margaret B. Conklin VIRGINIA BEACH - Margaret Brown Conklin, 96, of the 700 block of Oxbow Drive, passed away Aug. 27, 2008, in her home. Born in Princess Anne County, Virginia, Margaret was a bookkeeper with T.H. Conklin and Son, Marine Contracting. She was also a longtime employee of the City of Virginia Beach. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk and an active member of the Kempsville Women's Club as well as the past president of Ingleside Garden Club. Margaret was the widow of Tilton Herbert Conklin Sr. She is survived by three grandchildren, Herbert Todd Conklin of Virginia Beach, Michael David Conklin and wife Holly of Charleston, S.C., and their two children Michael Reid and Ava Elizabeth, and Ginevra "Lisa" Elizabeth Alphen and husband Glenn of Richmond, and their two children, Ginevra Margaret Alphen and Rex James Alphen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Tilton Herbert Conklin. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Dick Baker officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, and at the residence following the graveside Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kempsville Women's Club. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
