Patricia Smith Spruill

Patricia ("Pat") Smith Spruill, 79, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, E. Jay Spruill; her parents, Roy E. Smith, Sr. and Ethel May Smith (nee Van Nostrand); and her brother, Roy E. Smith, Jr. Pat was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends particularly at her happy place in the Outer Banks. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Pat had a big heart and always put others before herself. Her door was always open. She shared her wisdom and advice readily and had a profound influence on those she loved. For those who knew and loved her, she left an indelible impact on their hearts and lives. Pat is survived by her son, Christopher J. Spruill; grandchildren, Jocelyn Spruill and Beckham Spruill; sister, Barbara Avery (Buster); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family received friends on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 2:00-3:00 PM, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Chester Chapel, and a graveside service was held at 3:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Park.
