Sandra Davis Obituary

Sandra Elizabeth Warren Davis, the daughter of Harold "Red" and Lillian Warren, born January 20, 1942 and raised in her beloved Norfolk old-time Berkley neighborhood, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday October 25th.

At the age of 12, she and her family moved to Virginia Beach where three short years later, the love of her life, Robert, unfolded his 6'4" body out of a tiny Renault. That was it! For over 60 years they grew closer together.

"Together Again"

While Robert owned and operated Davis Masonry, Sandra was his other half, supporting him and together building a lasting legacy of intertwined work and family memories.

After her own children were in school, she went to work in the school cafeteria enjoying the students and making life-long friends. Leaving the cafeteria, she began working for her brother Harold in his land surveying office. She loved it. The office was close to her parents' home, so years of lunches at "Warrens' Restaurant" were enjoyed.

Her love for family and the Lord was abundant. Mom and Dad were founding members of Calvary Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Dad was a Senior Deacon, Mom was a bonified "funster" serving in several different children's ministries over the years alongside her friends in the nursery and volunteering at Pembroke Elementary.

She was predeceased by her father and mother; her brothers David, Harold, Paul and Sam; her sister Carol; her grandson Stephen Warren Davis Jr.; her great-grandsons Robert Simon Davis, Chase Logan Gleason and Chance Landon Gleason.

Sandra leaves behind her loving children Margie Carol Dickson, Robert Joseph Davis Jr.(Dana), Gregory Scott Davis Sr.(Trish), and Stephen Warren Davis Sr.(Linda). She also leaves behind a sister Margie Frances Beacham, and a brother Michael Keith Warren. She was best known as Granny to Patty Upshur, Starr VanWingerden, Belle Dickson, Joy Dickson, Robert E. Dickson Jr., Brandon Davis Sr., Brooke Gleason, Gregory Scott Davis Jr., Jonathan Robert Davis, Rachel Slifer, Jacqueline Dugan and Cody Luchau. She was Great Granny to 35 and counting great-grandchildren.

Just as Robert always said, she WAS a wonderful woman! Family meant everything to her, and she meant the world to all of her family. All those that remain rejoice in the fact that our family's great patriarch and matriarch are reunited once again. Their love story continues through eternity.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, November 1st from 7-9pm, and a service will be held Saturday, November 2nd at 12:00pm; both will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 4832 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach 23455. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk at 1000 E. Indian River Road, Norfolk 23523.

Mrs. Davis was a wonderful woman with an amazing Christian spirit. I loved talking to her while she was volunteering at Pembroke Elementary. She was a such a pleasant and joyful person, I alway eagerly looked for her on her volunteer days and always had a laugh filled chat with her. She will be greatly missed by family and friends I'm sure, but she will certainly be remembered for the joy and love she brought to all. May God bless all of you in the days ahead.
With sincere condolences,
Judy Scarry

Margie, Robbie, Scott and Stephen:

I was deeply saddened to hear of Aunt Sandra's passing. I have so many fond memories of her time with my dad's company. She basically ran his company - filing paperwork, keeping the books, dealing with clients, answering phones, prioritizing projects, and managing the field crews. Rumor has it she even went into the field with Dad a time or two. Her legacy lives on in my company with the filing system she created and meticulously maintained. She never complained and always had that friendly smile even when she had to deal with the boss's son on a day to day basis. As I am sure you know her love of family was second to none. The twinkle in her eye when she spoke about her kids and especially the grandchildren was so very special.
When my father began to decline she showed me the business side of how one runs a company. That knowledge she readily and graciously shared. She was a huge part of what made the company both past and present, successful. I am forever grateful for her wisdom and to have had Aunt Sandra in my life for so many years.

Love you all
Beau

Sandra and Robert were our neighbors when they were just starting their journey. Sandra was such a nice, friendly person. I was finishing high school and so admired her attitude to life. I am sure that Margie doesn't remember but she was a flower girl in my wedding! She was only 4 or 5. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I k ow she will be surely missed. If you would like to have the picture from the wedding please let me know. Margie, you were adorable!!

To know Sandra was to love her. She was one of a kind. At times she was my second mother and I felt blessed to have her. I spent many a day across the desk from her working at my dads (Harolds) office. We shared many a meal at the "Warren Restaurant" with my dad, Uncle Robert, Grandmother Warren and Granddaddy Warren. (Remember to put four pieces of white bread on the table and hold hands while we say grace.;)) I remember her gently removing herself from situations by stating "I think I hear my mother calling". I guess this time she truly did hear her mother calling. Aunt Sandra, I know you are now with Uncle Robert, Daddy (Harold), Red and Lil and so many others, and I hope you are enjoying a nice lunch with a big bucket of the Kentucky fired Chicken Daddy probably arrived with.
