Sarah Huber Obituary
After attending Norfolk schools she graduated from the College of William & Mary. In 1948 she married Paul S. Huber, Jr., and they shared a wonderful marriage of fifty years until his death in 1998. She devoted herself and her talents to her family and her community. She supported and held leadership positions in a number of organizations, but it was her wish to be remembered for who she was as an individual rather than for her affiliations and accomplishments.
Throughout her life she treasured a remarkable number of friendships, including the close knit group who named themselves The Sisters and remained friends from childhood until their deaths. She was honored to enjoy a new generation of friends at Westminster Canterbury after her move there.
She supported and loved her family unconditionally. She is survived by her son Paul S. Huber, III; her son Peter M. Huber and his wife Nancy; granddaughter Sarah H. Lambert and her husband Sean; granddaughter Caroline H. Johnston and her husband Eugene; and three treasured great grandchildren, Olivia Lambert, Zachary Lambert, and Price Johnston.
The family is deeply grateful to Dianne Harris, Frederica Phoenix and Dominique McDaniel, who cared for her, and whom she cared for and loved, as family. They gave her the great gift of maintaining her independence and enjoying a full and happy life.
She was a devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored to be remembered by a gift to her church or to any organization serving the community.
Burial will be private. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
