Susan Mantz Nilsson

1942 - 2021

Susan Mantz Nilsson, 78, of Suffolk, VA passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021. Born Sally Susan Mantz (but never call her Sally!) on December 31, 1942, in Pensacola, Florida, to Samuel and Lucille Mantz. Susan led a life that touched so many as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She was an active member of the Larchmont United Methodist Church, a member of the Smithfield Woman's Club, was an avid orchid grower and cultivator, and a talented painter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Nilsson; her children, Doug (Veronica) Overman of Houston, TX, Erik (Alison) Nilsson of Chesapeake, VA, Christian Nilsson of Virginia Beach, VA; and her beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Chase Nilsson, and Daniel and Gabriella Overman.

The Nilsson family would like to extend a special thank you to the gentle and dedicated staff of the Lake Prince Woods Skilled Nursing Team, as well as Heartland Hospice. Their compassionate care of Susan and her family was sincerely appreciated.

Interment in the Larchmont United Methodist Church columbarium in Norfolk, VA will occur at a later date.
