WASHINGTON - Mrs. Margaret Pearse, 92, of Farm Ridge Township, the mother of a Washington woman, died Monday morning, April 20, 2009, at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, Ill. Burial will be in Deer Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Margaret was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Ottawa to Bernhard and Stella (Benson) Berge.
She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, attended Millikin University and graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance.
After graduation, she taught piano at North Dakota State School for the Blind.
She married Thomas G. Pearse Jr. on July 12, 1941, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2008.
She was a member of Monday Club, Panhellenic, Amateur Music Club and Zetema Club.
Margaret was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Clara Naomi Circle.
She was a generous supporter of wildlife, veterans, medical research and community music and arts.
Mrs. Pearse taught music at Grand Ridge Grade School in the 1970s.
She is survived by six children, Tom (Carol) Pearse of South Ottawa Township, Ann (Ray) Williams of Washington, Ill., Kathy (Ed) McClendon of Wakeman, Ohio, Sue (Brad) Roos of Rockford, Ill., Bob (Tracy Satterthwaite) Pearse of Tuscola, Ill., and John (Robyn) Pearse of West Union, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, Mary Varland, Betsy Dolder, Matt Williams, Meghan Hemann, Carson Williams, Shannon McClendon, Adam McClendon, Nathan Roos, Isaac Roos, Joseph Roos, Ian Pearse, Allison Pearse, Neil Pearse, Scott Pearse, Jacob Pearse, Jevon Pearse and Rhiannon Pearse; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Pearse IV.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Deer Park Cemetery.
