LACON - Richard M. "Shep" Thompson, 60, of Lacon passed away at his home at 4:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1951, in Peoria to the late Quincy LaGrande and Grace (Stratton) Thompson. He married Kimberly A. Morgan on Nov. 6, 1976, in Lacon; she survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Douglas S. Thompson of Aurora, Ill.; his in-laws, Vicki and John Divelbiss of Lacon, Cathy and Alan McCully of Lacon and Michael and Jan Morgan of Chillicothe; one uncle, Morris "Bud" Stratton of Normal; two cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one uncle, William M. Stratton.
Shep was a lifetime member of the Lacon Country Club.
He was an avid golfer, Cubs and Bears fan.
He was employed by J&L Steel in Hennepin, Caterpillar Inc. and most recently Lacon Lanes.
Shep was a loving husband and will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends and his beloved pets, Annie and Izzie.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and there will be a private service at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Shep's name to L-S Rescue 52 or to the donor's choice.

Shep will be greatly missed. Always a smile and laughter whenever I saw him. I am sure he bought me a few kiddie cocktails when I was little and hanging with my Dad at the Lacon Country Club, or BB's. =)
