Virginia M. (Tiezzi) Laible
WASHBURN - Virginia M. (Tiezzi) Laible, 90, of Washburn passed away at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born on April 2, 1927, in Farmington to Torquato and Camilla (Baccheschi) Tiezzi. She married Elwood Laible on October 8, 1955, in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 2011.
Surviving are her children, Rev. Jeffrey Laible of Lincoln, Terry Laible of Washburn and Sherry (Michael) Laible-White of Pekin; grandson, Matthew Simpkins; great-grandchildren, Mariah and Matthew; and siblings, Elda Graves and Shirley Kellerstrass.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Nick and Guido Tiezzi; and sisters, Anne Tiezzi, Ella West, Verna Grabinger, Louise Bonikowski, Donna Tiezzi, Nina Gray and Hazel Catteau.
Virginia worked for Caterpillar for many years. She loved sports and was a member of the Dieselettes softball and basketball teams while employed at Cat. She also enjoyed following the Cubs and Bradley Basketball. She was proud of her Italian heritage and loved cooking great Italian food. In keeping with that heritage, she cherished time spent with family. Virginia loved ballroom dancing with her husband and traveling with him during their retirement.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria. Father Jeffrey Laible will officiate. Visitation will from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish School, Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka or the Alzheimer's Association.
