HOPEDALE - Virginia C. Polson, 83, of Hopedale passed away at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Peoria to Tony and Alberta Cable AmRhein. She married Wendell Polson on Feb. 7, 1948, in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband of Hopedale; one daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Whitehead of Woodhull; two sons, Michael (Barbara) Polson of Groveland and Jim (Miriam) Polson of Hopedale; and seven grandchildren.
Virginia had been a swimming instructor to many children in the area. She had also worked as a lab tech at Caterpillar Tractor Co. and at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. More recently, she had served as a volunteer for the Hopedale Medical Complex.
Virginia took great joy in being active in the various activities of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hopedale and its Altar and Rosary Society.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hopedale. Monsignor Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Davis Mortuary in Hopedale. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, the American Cancer Society or the Hopedale Medical Foundation.

You have Randy and my sympathies on the passing of your mom. We are out of town and will not be able to attend her services. I have lots of good memories of Virginia and always enjoyed spending time at your house. Just know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers
