Dario M. Brezene

DARIO M. BREZENE Whiting, Indiana Age 62, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, at St. Margaret Hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Brezene is survived by: wife, Janet (Forauer) of Whiting; son, Paul; mother, Mary Jane; and brother, George, all of Whiting; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Koselke of Whiting, Marianne (Joseph) Matlon of St. John and Cynthia Brezene of Remer, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lastly, he is survived by his loyal companion "Greta" the German Shepherd. Mr. Brezene was preceded in death by his father, Mike, and brother, Michael. Thursday services are pending. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home, Calumet Ave. at 119th St., Whiting on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. A Vigil service will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. with Father John Kovach, from St. Mary's Byzantine Church. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Mr. Brezene was a multi-talented individual. Following his graduation from Whiting High School and St. Joseph College of Rensselaer, Mr. Brezene attended Indiana University where he attained his MBA. He taught at St. Mary Catholic School in East Chicago, also at I.U. and Calumet College. Dario become a Certified Public Accountant, and was an excellent wood worker, crafting toy trains and various other wooden toys. Dario also was an avid fisherman. Mr. Brezene was the retired Chief Financial Officer of NICTD, Chesterton, IN. Also retired from Pullman Leasing. Gifts may be made to a charity of choice.
