Jerome Smith, of Gary, Indiana exchanged time for eternity June 26, 2018 at Methodist Hospital Southlake. Born November 24, 1949 to the union of the late Thomas W. and Mary L. Smith. He was a faithful member of Mount Zion Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C., employee of the Lake County Highway Department and graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1968. He leaves to cherish fond memories his loving wife LaBrenda A. Smith; Son Kenyatta (Carnethia) Smith; Daughters Kaletta (Lutrell) Kirk and Kirby Smith; 2 sisters Rosemary Fleets and Sheila Smith; 4 brothers James (Ethel) Smith, Paul (Renee) Smith, Michael (Diane) Smith and twin brother Jerry (Michelle) Smith. Grandsons Tyrie Fuller, Kenyatta Smith, Kenyia Smith, Lutrell III, Kaidiay, Amari; Granddaughters Kay Monae Smith and Autumn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation Monday, July 2, 2018 from 12 to 8:00 p.m. Family Hours from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Funeral service Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C., 4937 Massachusetts St. Gary, IN. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.

Two years have flown by and memories of you are still in my heart and mind. When I visit the gravesites of Dad, Mom, Al, Frank, Gloria and you it brings tears of joy to my heart knowing you're all together looking down smiling on those you have left behind. And look up to the heavens and thank God for the storm and rains he pulled us through. Fourteen of us grew up at 2364 Washington Street Gary Indiana. A place where families and neighbors cared about each other. I miss you my brother, my friend, my twin. It's a lonely feeling yet I must go on. Rest In Heaven and we will all one day meet again.

Today marks one year that Jerome recieved his heavenly wings. Though he is gone in the flesh his spirit lives on in those who knew him and loved him. Was he perfect no he was flawed like all of us, but he was forgiven. Not one day goes by out of the 68 years that I knew and grew up with him, that I don't think about him. Thoughts of the fun and joy he brought me and to those that really knew him. What a special spirit he was on this planet called earth. Jerome my twin and my friend Iknow I'll see you again.
