Lindsay Rogers Obituary

Lindsay Renee Rogers, 27, was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on July 28, 1987 to Larry W. and Dawn Renee (Anderson) Rogers. She passed away unexpectedly at her home in Orlando, Florida on May 1, 2015. Lindsay attended Jackson Elementary, Liberty Middle School, South Haven Christian and graduated from Chesterton High School in 2006. After graduating from high school she attended Vincennes University and while there, was invited to attended and participate in the Disney College Program at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Lindsay went to Disney World, participated in their College Program and fell in love with both Disney and Florida. She continued to work for Disney in a variety of roles as well as working for both Sea World at Discovery Cove and at Universal Studios in the Harry Potter Exhibit. In 2001, when she was fourteen, Lindsay's mother, Dawn, passed away from a lengthy illness. This was a heartbreaking event in her life as she loved her mother dearly. In 2004 she became part of a blended family when her father remarried Jocelyn Rogers. Lindsay fell in love with Jocelyn, who took Lindsay under her wing and into her heart and treated her as if she were her own child. They laughed, traveled, shopped and cried together and talked on the phone many times each day. Lindsay poured her heart out to Jocelyn and they became best friends. With Jocelyn came Eric and Scott Brown who became Lindsay's brothers. In October of 2011 Lindsay was severely injured as a passenger in an auto accident. She nearly succumbed to her injuries but for the heroic efforts of the medical staff at St. Anthony's Medical Center in Crown Point and Advent Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. As a result of the injuries sustained in the accident, she lived daily with sometimes excruciating pain. Despite her pain, she tried to live her life to the fullest extent possible in her adopted hometown of Orlando, Florida. Lindsay is survived by her father Larry W. Rogers and her step-mother and best friend Jocelyn Rogers, brothers Eric and Scott and sister Alison. Also surviving are her paternal aunts, Cheryl Rogers and Jaye Rogers, together with cousins Brian (Michelle) and Chad (Mo) Krieter and her grandfather Cecil Hyde. Her maternal grandparents are Robert and Jacqueline Anderson who survive along with her Aunt Debra Lenburg and cousins, Kirk Pliske, Stefanie Ashton and Nicole Lenburg-Scott and Uncle Ted Pliske. She also left behind her three dogs who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Doris Hyde and her aunt Cheryl Pliske. In addition to her family, Lindsay left behind scores of friends, both in Indiana and Florida, who mourn her passing. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her family and friends. A wake will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana, 46304. A private family service will be held with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Porter County Animal Shelter, 2056 Heavilin Road, Valparaiso, IN 46385. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.EE-FH.com.

Lindsay became the daughter I never had through the death of my son, Shane, last January 2014. She immediately wrote me of how amazing my son was to her as a true friend. We spoke daily for one year plus and she was truly a Soldier, loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and always was a sincere listener with a heart of gold. She was so transparent as well with me; we truly bonded quickly and I loved her much in a short amount of time. I truly miss her so much....Fly high butterfly in the glory of Heaven. I love you Lindsay Rogers. My sincere thoughts and prayers to your family. I will SEE YOU AGAIN! Love, Mom T
