David Cousin Obituary

David Leonard Cousin, 95, of Idaho Falls, died February 14, 2008, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Leonard was born September 24, 1912, in Woodville, Idaho, to David Cousin and Adelia Mangum Cousin. He grew up in Woodville on the family farm. He attended the Taysom Grade School in Woodville.

As a youth, he worked in the outdoors with the family sheep herd and eventually became a sheep rancher himself, which he did for many years. During part of this time, he served on the board of directors for the Eastern Idaho Grazing Association. He also won an award from the Goodyear Corporation for his range land conservation efforts.

He married Marie Margaret Miller on July 1, 1950, in Jackson, Wyoming.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed reading, taking road trips and staying informed on world events. Leonard and Marie were partners in everything they did, and together they loved spending time with their family, including grandchildren, Jennifer, Hannah, Larisa, Bryce, Lauren and Braden.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Cousin of Idaho Falls; children, Steven Cousin of Woodville, Idaho, and Larry (Lisa) Cousin of South Jordan, Utah; sister, Elma Moore of Thatcher, Arizona; brother, Lloyd Cousin of Ammon; and six grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Peter Demitropoulos of the Idaho Falls LDS 2nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and for one hour Saturday before services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
