Christopher M. Grady
Jan. 19, 1968 - Dec. 4, 2023
PALM HARBOR, FL - It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Christopher M. Grady, "Gumby", with his loving parents at his side at Suncoast Hospice.
Chris graduated from Lake George Central School, NY, with outstanding academic achievement and the Presidential Academic Fitness Rewards Program in 1986. He was an outstanding soccer player holding the school record for goals scored to this day.
Chris then went to Suny Potsdam in the 3/2 Mechanical Engineering Program with Clarkson University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Minor in Computer Science. He was an active member of the Delta Kappa Theta Fraternity since 1988 and was an outstanding pledge master.
Chris started working at 14 years old for the Fort William Henry Resort, and then as a Sous Chef at the Algonquin Restaurant in Bolton Landing until he graduated high school and went to college. He also worked one semester for his parents at the Colonial Arms Restaurant in Warrensburg, NY, as a Sous Chef.
After graduation from college, he worked as a Computer Programmer and IT person for a company in Latham, NY. He then moved to St. Petersburg, FL, to work with his fraternity brother, Jason Patchen, as a VP in IT and Computer Programming. He advanced on to several other companies and ended his career at Centene as Chief IT. His employees loved him as a very fair and compassionate boss. Chris always said that his "brain works different than everyone else", and was very intelligent and could fix anything.
He loved to tinker around the house they renovated and beautifully landscaped in Palm Harbor on Lake Tarpon, FL. He rebuilt a pontoon boat, and loved to spend time with his boys on the lake teaching them to water ski, wake board, and knee boarding and tubing. Chris loved snow skiing, hiking, golfing, soccer, football, fixing computers, and anything mechanical. He also was a great cook!
His greatest love and pride were his children, Nathan and Seth. He was a member of Palm Harbor United Methodist Church and volunteered to do the media streaming of the services which he was very proud of.
Chris is survived by his dad and mom, Joe and Sheila Grady of St. Petersburg, FL, and Lake George, NY; sister, Colleen (Bob) Mueller of Tierra Verde, FL; his sons: Nathan and Seth Grady; and their mom, Tina Morell-Grady of Dunedin, FL; three half-sisters: Joanne King, Sarah Vittorio, and Allison Shaffer; nephews: Brian Grady (Bobbi Jo) and Peter Meyre (Nikki); niece, Tiara Meyre White; uncle, Wayne (Jeanne) Sica; uncle, Jack (Roberto) Sica; aunt, Judy Haff; and aunt, Jill Sica Hunt; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Karen Burlett Mancini, sister, Barbara Grady Wells, grandparents, Frank and Helen Grady, Joseph and Dorothy Sica, and Earl and Alice Burlett.
A celebration of his life is planned for March 2, 2024, at the Island Grille, 210 Madonna Blvd., Tierra Verde, FL, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Cremation was done by Abbey Affordable Funeral Home.

I went to high school with Chris. I can still see him- sporting a soccer jersey and usually playing hacky sack. He had a really beautiful, and yet mischievous, smile. He had a laugh that consumed his whole body and could produce some of the best facial expressions I´ve ever seen. Very sorry to the family for this huge loss.
