Francis Noonan Obituary

WHITEHALL -- Francis E. Noonan, 79, passed away on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at the Eden Park Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 8, 1927, in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late Frank and Ida (Palmer) Noonan.

Francis was a graduate of Whitehall High School in 1944.

He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.

Following his military service, he was employed at the Delaware & Hudson Railroad, General Electric and Hercules, where he retired.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rita(DeLorme) Noonan, two sons, Steven and Paul, and one daughter, Crizan.

He is survived by two sons, John Noonan of Alexandria, Va., and William Noonan and his wife, Susan, of Hudson Falls; one daughter, Jennifer Jenkins and her husband, Patrick, of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Jane Bergmeier and her husband, Francis, of South Glens Falls, five grandchildren: Christopher Jenkins of Fort Riley, Kan., Andrew Jenkins of Alexandria, Va., Evan Noonan, Erin Noonan and Abby Noonan, all of Hudson Falls; his beloved sister-in-law, Helen Hyney of Clifton Park; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at the Whitehall United Methodist Church, Greenmount Cemetery Lane, Whitehall, at a time to be announced.

Interment, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 83 of Whitehall, will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.

Family and friends may call at Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, from 2 to 5 p.m. The American Legion, Post No. 83 will conduct a wake service at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations in Francis' name be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 71 Glenwood Ave., P.O. Box 4091, Queensbury, NY 12804.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eden Park Nursing Home for the loving care they provided.

Following the interment, family and friends are invited to the American Legion, Post No. 83, Main Street, Whitehall, for a time for fellowship and refreshments.
