HUDSON FALLS - Herbert F. Hanson Jr., 94, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born August 7, 1930, in Moriah, N.Y., he was the son of the late Herbert F. Sr. and Marjorie (Willy) Hanson.

He graduated from Moriah High School class of 1946, Herbie continued education at Hudson Valley Technical Institute getting his associate's degree in automotive tech.

Herbie proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

On July 4, 1953, Herbie married the love of his life, Janet Lewis at St. James Church in Fort Edward.

He was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls for many years.

Herbie was the owner and operator of Hanson Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service. He retired from Scott Paper after many years of service.

He enjoyed golfing, traveling the world with Janet, cooking, watching his great-grandsons play hockey, Pizza Hut lunches with his great-grandsons and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Herbie was predeceased by his son, Herbert F. Hanson III; brothers, Donald Hanson and Thomas Hanson; sisters, Bette Sousie and Carole VanNostrand.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 71 years, Janet Hanson; daughter, Barbara Longden (Dave); grandchildren, Matthew Graham (Jennifer) and Robbie Graham (Brooke); great-grandchildren, Lucas, Evan and Zachary Graham.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m., on Monday, January 13, 2025, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, N.Y. 12828. A funeral service will be held following the calling hours at 6 p.m. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward in the spring.

Memorial donations in Herbie's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
