Timothy King Obituary

Dr. Timothy E. King,74, of Poteau, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in the early morning hours, and went into Lords welcoming arms on March 8, 2024. He was born September 2, 1949, a Friday, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Starling Otis and Alberta Lenore (Wayt) King.

Ironically Tim passed away from cancer but not like we thought from smoking 3 packs of cigarettes daily for over 50 years, but from cancer caused by Agent Orange, from serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Tim was thought to be invincible by his family as he survived being ran over by a car, accidently stabbed, two different poisonous snake bites, gunshots during Vietnam, heart attacks and bypass surgeries, and an aortic aneurysm. Even when diagnosed with cancer and given only 30-60 days, he lived another 18 months. He fought the good fight, but death comes for all of us. The motto he always said and believed in was "God will provide". He had a very deep, and enduring Faith.

He was a very intelligent person who graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979. He was a great physician. He loved his patients, and they loved him. He practiced many years in Oklahoma City before moving his practice to Poteau in 1995, where he ultimately hung his stethoscope up in 2005. Although being born and spending most of his life in Oklahoma City, Poteau was always home to him. He was a great dad, an even greater grandpa, and a very loving cherished husband that will be greatly missed by all of us.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, his son Timothy C. King, his brothers Starling Alvin King and Doyle R. King, his stepdaughter Melanie K. McKay, and brother-in-law Larry Brown.

Tim is survived by his wife Kathy Lomon King of the home, his granddaughter Karlie Wackerly of the home, his daughters Brittni Hill and husband Ethan of Wister, Oklahoma, Breanna Sallee and husband Joshua of Lavaca, Arkansas, and Tami King of Moore, Oklahoma, his sons James King and wife Katy of Poteau, Oklahoma, Lonnie C. McRay Jr and wife Julie of Australia, and Ivan McRay and wife Kaitlyn of Wister, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Kyle Alexander, Thomas King, James S King, Matthew King, Braxton Hill, Preslie Britt, Lillian Hill, Sawyer Hill, Jamison Sallee, Mia Joy Sallee, Syndney Fout, Brionna Ford, Lacklan McRay, Connor McRay, Charles D McRay, Terrell J McRay, Melanie M McRay, and his great grandson Malachi McRay, his sister Cecelia Brown of North Carolina, his brothers in law John J Lomon, Grover Lomon and wife Donna, Ray Humphries and wife Juanita, Don Real and wife Mary, Tommie DeWitt and wife Betty, his sisters in law Tammy Lomon and Johnie Lantz, best friend since 5th grade Charles Gray, his special niece Leanna De Leon, 14 nieces and nephews, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Services for Tim King will be held 10am - Friday, March 15, 2024, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave. Poteau, Oklahoma with Speaker Donald Real officiating and burial to follow at 1pm - Friday March 15, 2024, at The Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with military honors and bagpipes. The family will meet and greet friends from 6pm - 8pm on Thursday March 14, 2024, also at The Cedars on Dewey. Casket bearers will Joshua Sallee, Ethan Hill, Braxton Hill, Sydney Fout, Joshua King, Karlie Wackerly and honorary Casket bearers will be Charles Gray, Dr. B. Don Schumpert, James S. King, Lonnie C. I am just heartbroken seeing this. My dear Dr. Kung. The last of the good ones. I traveled from the city to poteau for many many years to see him. There was no other like him. I too believed he was invincible and he could fix anything. No illness or problem was too big. Not only was he my Dr. He was a friend and like another dad to me. We met him doing er work when he had to sew my little brother up. He instantly became our family Dr. He was just such a kind gentle amazing man. He was my Dr for over 25 years. Through all my struggles with weight and depression and anything in between. He could just fix it. If I was upset, he'd say now smoking isn't good and you should do as I say not as i do...but lets go smole a cigarette and talk. Dr Ku g wasn't just a Dr. He was my friend and he loved us patients. When I was little my daddy got sick and we didn't have the money at the time for an expensive prescription. He just knew and took out his wallet handed mom money and told her to go get it. Thats the man he was. When he retired i never was able to find him again. Unfortunately he had us so spoiled that any Dr. I interact with I compare and hold them to his standards and there just aren't any like him anymore. If i had him paged youcan bet i received a call back wthin the hour. I hope he knew all these years how much we loved him. He did things his own way...the best way. I hope he had good people taking care of him when he was sick, just like he was good to so many of us. I am so sorry to the family . He was my hero too. I will forever love and muss the most amazing Dr. God ever put here.
RIP my sweet Dr. You were an amazing man and helped so many people. I will never fo your stories or your illustrations on exam table covers to make sure I understood. Or the lesson with the tiny paper and story about the trapped bird
