Clara Smith Obituary

Clara L. Smith, 88, of Phoenixville Clara L. (Smith) Smith, 88, wife of the late William Smith, Jr. of Phoenixville, died on Monday, January 10, 2011 at home. Born in North Conway, NH, she was the daughter of the late Phil and Marion (Thompson) Smith. Clara served in the United States Army WACS and participated in the USO shows during World War II. She worked for Smith Kline French Laboratories in Philadelphia. She was a member of St. Vincent United Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1564, American Legion Post 482, Friendship Fire Company, Polish Club and Phoenixville Senior Center. Surviving are a son, William Smith III of Phoenixville; a daughter, Amelia "Amy" Rossiter, wife of Charles of Ocean City, MD; five grandchildren, Bill Smith, Sara Smith, Shirl Geiger, Melissa Hayes and Jennifer Copenhaver; five great-grandchildren, Ariel, Dylan, Paige, Seth and Emily; one great-great granddaughter, Payten, and a sister, Helen Burke of California. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in St. Vincent United Church of Christ, 137 Ridge Road, Phoenixville, on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Frank Lamson officiating. Burial will be private in St. Vincent United Church of Christ Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Vincent United Church of Christ, PO Box 454, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
