Beacon - Diane M. Simmons (Di) slipped into heavenly rest on Sunday, July 22, 2018.

Affectionately also known as "Lady Di" to many, Diane was a lifelong resident of Beacon, New York.

The daughter of the late Johnson H, and Leatice K. Morgan, Diane attended Beacon High School, and Dutchess Community College majoring in Business Administration. A lifelong member of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was currently serving in the capacity of Chairman of the Trustee Ministry.

After a combined 30 years of management experience, Diane retired from The International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) after serving in various capacities, including management of Administrative Service Centers for IBM World Trade Organization, and Corporate Recruitment Manager for IBM Office of Equal Opportunity Employment.

Diane enjoyed many civic distinctions, she was past 1st, and 2nd Vice President of the Empire State Federation of Women's and Youth Clubs, Inc. (Past Chairperson, and Board Secretary), Member, Board of Directors, of the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, Past President, Board of Directors, Beacon Community Center, and Advisory Board Member of The Salvation Army. Life Member of the Southern Dutchess NAACP, and member of Advisory Board, and member (Past President) of the Les Seours Amiables Civic Club, of Beacon, New York.

A past recipient of the JCPenney Golden Rule Award presented for outstanding civic individual accomplishment, Diane was an avid culinary enthusiast, and dedicated mother of three sons.

She is survived by her son, Barry Simmons of Beacon, New York, and Kimball Johnson also of Beacon. Grandmother of five, Joseph Simmons 3rd, Jason (Denise) Simmons, Christina Arroyo, Quinnasia Johnson, Jamal Johnson, and Great-Grandmother of five, Dasani Carmichael, Christina Simmons, Elisjsah Simmons, Bryson Davis, and Azhane Moultrie are left to cherish her memory, including many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her sister, Beverly Morgan of Beacon New York; brother, Albert Morgan (Gloria) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Charles Morgan of Fishkill, New York. Diane was predeceased by her son, Joseph Simmons Jr., and also 5 brothers, Leonard, Donald, Giles, Edward, and Johnson H. Morgan Jr, and one sister, Louise C. Morgan.

The family would like to Thank and acknowledge the dedicated team of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in White Plains, New York for their dedication, compassion, and quality Health services. In addition, to The Hudson Valley Hospice for their ongoing support, and dedication to palliative care treatment.

Mrs. Simmons will repose 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 139 Main Street, Beacon New York. A Home Going Celebration of her life will begin at 12:00 Noon, Reverend John Eric Rembert will officiate Entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery Mausoleum, Fishkill, NY.
