Dorothea English Obituary

Dorothea Drury English

Dorothea Drury English was born on Feb. 10.1918 in Bronx, NY. She died on March 28, 2017 in Stamford, CT. She was the youngest child of the six children of Joseph and Ellen Tevlin Drury. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Ursula in the Bronx and Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY. She received her Masters degree from Columbia University and went on to teach at St. Joseph's School for the deaf, NYC. She volunteered at New York School for the Deaf and taught in Elmsford, NY for many years. She is predeceased by Her husband of fifty years, Thomas F. English and her daughter Mary Elizabeth. Her 7 children, Dorothea Reynolds (Patrick), Thomas, Mark (Ann), Christopher (Kathy), Creighton, (K.C.) Laurie Damboragian (John) and Paul, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Dorothea was a great athlete and a devoted wife and mother. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6 at Coffey Funeral Home, Tarrytown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 7 at 10 am at Church of the Magdalene, Pocantico, NY, and Internment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
