Joseph D. Rossi, Jr

Red Hook -

Joseph D. Rossi, Jr., 64, a longtime Red Hook resident and former Chicago area resident, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 16th, 2012 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

For 30 years, Joe worked for IBM in both the Chicago and Poughkeepsie areas and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Following his retirement he worked as a technician for Verizon in the Hudson Valley and also worked part-time at H&R Block in Saugerties.

Joe took great joy and pride in raising livestock on his small farm. For many years he was active in the Dutchess County 4-H Program and was an active Boy Scout leader in the Chicago area.

He was a communicant of St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church in Red Hook.

Born on October 14, 1948, in Oak Park, IL, he was the son of the late Joseph D. and Anna (Michaels) Rossi, Sr.

Joseph married Harriet Williamson on January 5, 1980 at St. Rose Church in East Hartford, CT and she survives at home in Red Hook.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Peter Rossi of Stanfordville, NY, Ann Rossi of Riverdale, MD, and Nicholas Rossi of Lima, OH, two sisters, Mary Jo Furgal and her husband Joseph of Arlington, VA, and Barbara Rossi of Chicago, IL, a sister in law, Kathy Rossi of Elmhurst, IL, and his nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leo Rossi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 22, 2012 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2 to 5 pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Rd. Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or to St. Christopher's Church, 7411 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571.
