Robert Heick Obituary
West Liberty, Iowa
Robert LeRoy Heick, 82, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.
Private family services will be held at the in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to West Liberty Fire and Rescue Unit. Online condolences may be made the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.
Bob was born July 18, 1932 in Muscatine County, Iowa the son of Henry and Alma Schneider Heick. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the Class of 1951. From 1951 until 1956 he served in the US Army Reserves. On April 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Shirley Miller in Letts, Iowa. Bob and Shirley farmed for many years prior to moving into West Liberty. He later was employed with Syngenta Seeds in Lone Tree. Bob had served on the Muscatine County Fair board for many years and is an honorary fair board member.
He was a University of Iowa wrestling fan, enjoyed dancing and most importantly being a part of his children and grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
Survivors include his two children: Sue (Kurt) Kirchner of Nichols and Scott (Karen) Heick of West Liberty. Five grandchildren: Bobby Jo (Pat) Gates, Jake Heick, Celsey (Jake) Beck, Erin (Tom) Fitzer and Andy (Amy) Kirchner and seven great grandchildren: Kobe, Cooper, Keaton, Blaine, Avery, Melany and Maxson, brother Ron (Orma) Heick of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley December 6, 2014, son Mark and sister Patsy Terhune.
