Charles Moore Obituary

Moore, Charles J.

Binghamton, NY: Charles John Moore, 62, of Binghamton, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 7, 2014. Charlie was born and raised in Susquehanna, PA. He graduated from Susquehanna High School in 1970 with a passion for music and art. Charlie's favorite expression was that he would rather fail trying than fail to try. On August 16, 1975, he was in a tragic car accident at age 23 and as a result was a paraplegic for the rest of his life. His will to live on and enjoy life was his hallmark. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary and sister, Jackie. He is survived by his sister, Judy Seppa; three nephews, Justin, Matthew and Michael Seppa; niece, Tara Baker; cousin, Patrick McLaughlin; and dear friend, Melissa Mischke. Charlie will be missed by the Binghamton community who shared his love of art and music. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, Susquehanna, PA, on Friday, July 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Cramer officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

I knew Charlie when I was a student in Binghamton. We took film classes together and hung out many a night listening to music. Great guy!

we were unaware of Charlie's passing untill it was brought to our attention yesterday. Though he has been gone a month we will miss him forever. His strength was a powerful reminder of how those who have less ability can overcome without complaint. He will be missed by so many and will always be in our prayers.

I just learned of Charlie's passing and I am saddened by the news. I never really got to know Charlie and Judy because of family circumstances but I am sure he is now with his parents and Aunt Marge. My best wishes to cousin Judy and the rest of Charlie's family. May he rest in peace.

Charlie was a huge inspiration to all of us in the Binghamton music community. An amazing guy. It's rare to meet someone who cared so much about what we did that he would often wheel himself in harsh cold winter nights just to come out and have a good time with us all. My condolences to his family, his spirit is now free.

My sincere condolences to Charlie's family. He was always a welcomed sight while I was walking my beat in Binghamton. He would always stop and chat with me a while about music and my cousins he knew in Susquehanna. Back in the day, we would shoot pool in Thirsty's Bar and have a Captain & coke or two.
He has been missed and I am saddened at the thought that I won't see him again in this life.
I'll be traveling Friday and cannot make his services, but my thoughts and prayers will be with Charlie and the Moore family.

Such fond memories of Charlie. He and my parents were good friends when I was young and I remember him visiting on our porch and listening to music for hours at a time. During these later years that I have lived in Binghamton myself I would stop and visit w/ him, sharing in memories from Susquehanna. I'd see him all around and always enjoyed listening to his stories. My prayers to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

To Charlie's family I just want to say that we are really sad to see such an amazing soul leave us. Charlie was the heart and soul of Binghamton's music scene and I've known him for better than 10 years and have had much random conversation about all things past present and future with Charlie. I will very much miss his presence and Binghamton will never be the same. Musicians who will grow up after me will be missing out on someone very special. -CJ Wachter
