Dennis Zdimal Obituary

Zdimal, Dennis R.

Dennis Raymond Zdimal, 57, went to be a guardian angel for his family and friends on October 21, 2016, following complications from surgery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Zdimal, and his soul mate Robert Teribury. Dennis is survived by his siblings, Robert Zdimal Jr., of Oxford, NY, Kathleen (Zdimal) and Richard Smith, of Richboro, PA, Patricia (Zdimal) and George Smith, of Las Vegas, NV, and Nancy (Zdimal) and Stan Konopa, of Franklin, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews, and his recently adopted friend Beasley. Dennis was a graduate of SUNY Broome County Community College and Binghamton University, where he earned a Masters in Science. Dennis was a nurse manager and clinical lead with United Health Services for many years. Most recently he was employed at Binghamton University as a lecturer and clinical instructor with a focus on psychology studies for undergraduates. Dennis and Bob were avid racing fans and frequent spectators at 5-Mile Point and Penn Can Speedway. Dennis will be fondly remembered for his loving generous spirit and a hearty sense of humor. The family would like to thank his colleagues and students, Lori Sprague and family, Val Nagel and family, and all his racing-track friends for their support over the years and during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

Words cannot express the feelings of sadness at the loss of a member of my extended family. Bobby, Kathy, Patty and Nancy are all in our thoughts and prayers. My first memories of Dennis were when he was three and I was five, we were watching the Wizard of Oz. We lived next door for over 20 years and shared a lot of childhood memories on Jerome Avenue. He always had a great sense of humor and caring soul. I would run into him throughout the years at his parents home checking on them and at the Veterans home when he was checking in on his Dad. Dennis took care of people and was a great nurse. Although it's been years since I've seen Dennis, he was a great presence and will never be forgotten. You were taken too soon my friend Rest In Peace. Love, Chris (Sindon) and Dale Wakeman

So sorry to hear about Denny's passing. I remember him as a youngster in the neighborhood where I grew up. He was a gentle kid and I'm not at all surprised to read he became a scholar and educator. To Patty and the Zdimal family, take joy in the memories of his life.

Dennis was my clinical instructor when I was in nursing school. I remember him as being extraordinarily compassionate, with a sense of humor that made us crack up 2 seconds after we realized what he said - because he would joke around so seriously! He was well-liked and touched many lives. Sending warm thoughts to his friends and family.
