John Dudack Obituary

Dudack, John David "Dave"

John David ("Dave") Dudack, son of John and Maria (Kostun) Dudack, was born in Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY on May 3, 1956 and died unexpectedly on January 24, 2015. He was baptized at St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, graduated from Johnson City High School and Broome Technical Community College and was a current member of St. John's the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Dave was an aficionado of his Cadillac's, Corvettes and Harleys and enjoyed annual Corvette road trips with like-minded friends. His classic maroon 1993 Corvette won first place in one of the Southern Tier Corvette Club's Annual Car Shows. He was a salesman at Olum's and Matthews Automotive Group and in classic Dave style; a large number of customers became life-long friends. Friendship was a word that defined Dave. Family and friends were his pride and joy and those familiar with him found him to be immensely generous and thoughtful especially in times of need. Friends also knew he was the best person to have with you in an emergency since he could always get things done. He was everyone's favorite handyman and was quick to offer to help with whatever needed fixing or figuring out. Dave was a loving and compassionate son, a devoted brother and brother-in-law, a big-hearted and supportive uncle, a proud godfather, and for those lucky enough to be in his sphere, the best buddy one could ask for. He is survived by his sister, Gail Dudack; brother-in-law, Pat Colombo; nephew, J. Ross Colombo; several godchildren and many special friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Maria. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at St. John Ukrainian Church Hall, 1 Saint John's Parkway, Johnson City on Friday at 10AM. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Tinnitus Association in Dave's name: www.ata.org. Gail,
My condolences to you at this time. I went to school with Dave, and brought him over to Olum's to work with me for many years.I went away in the US Air Force in 1979, and retired in 1999 to Titusville Florida, but we always kept in touch. The last trip he came down here, we had a great get together at Disney World and shared tons of laughs and memories of the old days. I was home last summer, and had a wonderful lunch with him, and will never forget the true friend he always was to me. Over the thirty plus years I have known Dave, he always beamed with pride when talking about you and your awesome career. He will always look over us.
Aloha, my friend.

To the Dudack family, deepest sympathy at this difficult time. I knew Dave through mutual friends, and always thought highly of him. He was a stand up guy who over the years was considered a friend. May he rest now in the arms of our lord in heaven and his struggles have passed. In our fraility as human beings we don't always understand why, but it is in Gods hands. With sincerity and condolences. Friend Tommy DAngelo

Gail and Family

My heart goes out to you all in this time of sorrow. I certainly did not have the close relationship with Dave in the near past as I did as we grew up as children. He was my childhood friend each and everyday as we went thru our early years. I can share this has made me sorrowful as it makes me think back to our childhood together and just question how can he be gone. We had our Chubby Checker twist contest if you can remember being a judge. He will always be part of my past and I offer you my sincerest condolences. You are in my prayers

To the Dudack family - you have my sympathies as this news comes as a shock. Dave and I used to pal around back in the late 1970's as we shared mutual friends and many good times together. We lost touch after I moved to the west coast, but my fondness for the type of person he was never waivered. God Bless you all and Godspeed!

Dear Family,
You are in our prayers. I am however blessed because I got to work with Dave at Olum's. He was always considerate to me and my husband. We had many conversations of family in between the time he was servicing the customers, who all adored and trusted him.
He is a gentle spirit who will be missed...
God Bless,
