Phyllis M. Pond
of Binghamton, NY
Phyllis M. Pond, 90, formerly of Whitney Point, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Elizabeth Church Manor. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Herbert Pond in 1985; and her son, Gary Pond in 1975. She is survived by her children, David and Delores Pond, Factoryville, PA, Kathy and Richard Gregory, Covington, GA, Forest Pond, Binghamton, NY, Doug and Sandy Pond, Port Crane, NY, Rick and Alice Pond, Lisle, NY, Clem Pond, CA, Sharon and Bob Winston, Lisle, NY, Paul and Michelle Pond, Carbondale, PA, Al and Debbie Pond, Binghamton, NY; 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Petersen, VA, Patricia Alto, Long Island, Chrissie Mains, FL; brothers, Alva Parmiter, NJ, Vernon Parmiter, FL; also numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis attended Malverne High School in Long Island and was active in the choir and field hockey and was given the Artist of the Year Award. She enjoyed her large family and her garden and its flowers, walking outdoors and lately, singing in the Senior Citizen Center in Whitney Point.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 12 Noon at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY with Mr. Joshua Nickels officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Forest Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Phyllis' memory to St. Louise Manor, 863 Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905.

I was Mrs. Pond's upstairs neighbor when she lived at Lakeview Apartments. I used to love to listen to her whistling as she took her walks around the building. She was always so sweet to my little girls and they loved her. Please accept our condolences.
