Coy Brown
Coy Brown was born in Clarksburg, WV on July 17, 1946, to his loving parents Coy and Betty Brown. Coy passed away in his home on the first day of Spring, March 21, 2022, in the tender arms of his loved ones.
Coy was a smart, kind, and generous man. He had a zest for life, a twinkle in his eyes, and a great sense of humor. Always eager to do good, he spent many years in service to his community, his friends, and his family.
Coy built a successful commercial and residential painting company in Sonoma County, established in the 1980s. He recruited and supported many fine young men and women to provide high quality service to the greater county of Sonoma.
Not only beautifying homes and businesses, but passing skill and integrity onto the many that he employed, always paving the way to the betterment of their lives. It continues on as part of his legacy.
A college graduate with a degree in Art, he was an artist of many mediums including pencil drawing, water color, and paint on canvas.
His true Art was the art of life, which he lived fully and passionately.
Happy to be of service, he dedicated much time to his community. Elected to the Community Services Board, he served Occidental tirelessly. He also spent many years in the Occidental fire department as a fireman and an EMT. He served 25 of those years as a Captain.
His greatest pride was in his son Zane. Zane followed in his dad's footsteps joining the Occidental fire department as a teenager to later become a professional career fireman in Santa Rosa where he still serves.
Coy touched the lives of many people. He was highly respected and well loved. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a great human being and one who left beauty and color in his wake.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Zane and Tracy, his wife Jane Golden, his sisters Marlin Brown and Cheryl Howard as well as his huge family of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his Poker family of brothers and sisters with whom he shared great and playful times.
A small private gathering will be attended by family.
