Victor Charp Obituary

CHARP, Victor Barnett Passed away peacefully on August 12, 2006 in Sacramento, CA at the age of 92. He was born June 22, 1914 in Spring Lake, New Jersey, lived in Asbury Park, NJ until 63 years old, and then moved to Santa Rosa near his children. As a young boy, he worked his parents' chicken farm, was a Veteran of World War II and then was a civilian employee at Fort Monmouth, NJ until moving to Santa Rosa, CA where he resided for 29 years. He dedicated years being an active volunteer for Sonoma County Special Olympics and, as a service to others in his community, frequently donated blood. He was a kind, loving man who talked with everyone and thought the best of each and every person he met. His family meant the world to him. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 63 years Esther Bernsweig Charp. Loving father of Dr. David Charp and Gail (Santa Rosa), Dr. Kenneth Charp and Marsha (Santa Rosa), Steven Charp (Sacramento), and daughter Barbara Klusky and Adam (Sacramento). He had seven grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan (Kimber) of Denver, Eric (Heather) of Berkeley, Darin (Jen) of San Diego, Adam of Santa Rosa, Kimberly (Rick Cantor) of Santa Rosa and Ilana Klusky of Sacramento and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving granddaughter Lauren Alyse Charp (25) of Santa Rosa. Services, August 15, 2006 in Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations to your charity of choice or the Alzheimers Assn. appreciated.

Mr. Charp was a devoted and kind man. I saw him regularly with his wife, as they picked up their son, Steve, from Becoming Independent. The Charps were attentive and tireless in what they would do for Steve. I know he will be missed terribly.
