William Lorenz Obituary
May 28, 1935 - April 2, 2023
Born in Atlantic Mine, Michigan, Bill was the first-born son of William and Glennis Lorenz. Bill enjoyed an adventurous childhood growing up in Trimountain, MI with his five brothers and one sister. At 18 years old, Bill joined the United States Coast guard and served for an astounding 31 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. In 1956, Bill married his lifelong sweet heart Ruth Hasek of Cleveland, Ohio. Bill and Ruth raised their four children and traveled throughout the U.S. living in Florida, Hawaii, Michigan, Alaska, and California. In 1984, Bill and Ruth settled in Rohnert Park, CA where they enjoyed many years of traveling and spending time with friends and family. In 2016, Bill and Ruth celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In 2017 after the passing of Ruth, Bill has enjoyed traveling and spending time with Moira. She has been a wonderful companion for him these past six years, and an immense help to the family.
Bill was an avid hunter, often hunting Pheasant at Birds Landing with his English Setter's. He also enjoyed fishing with his friends and family, spending many days fishing the San Pablo Dam, Eagle Lake and occasionally Salmon fishing in Alaska.
Around Rohnert Park, Bill was known to share his delicious beef jerky and if you were lucky enough you could also find yourself enjoying one of Bills home made jams. You could also regularly find Bill and Ruth enjoying a cup of coffee at Panera or Raley's.
Bill is survived by his younger brother Randy Lorenz, his four children, Debbie Whorton (Michael), Craig Lorenz (Laurie), Theresa Lorenz and Trent Lorenz (Shari). He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Tyler, Matthew, Shelby, Kelsea and Claire, and his four great-grandchildren.
Services for Bill will be held on Saturday June 3rd, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Rohnert Park at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
All of his friends, family and Coast Guard community will miss Bill dearly.
