Edith Cardarelli Obituary

CARDARELLI, EDITH 'IDA' (FERRUOLO), wife of the late Paul Guido Cardarelli, passed away Saturday, June 27th, at Heatherwood in Newport, RI. She was a former 30 year resident of Douglas Manor in North Providence.

Born September 12, 1915, third daughter of Giuseppi and Carolina (Rocco) Ferruolo, she was pre-deceased by siblings Vincent, Armando, Olympia, and Antonetta. Edith was raised in the Mt Pleasant section of Providence with loving care from her Grandmother, Marie Ferruolo, who managed the household and daily responsibilities of five children, while Giuseppi and Carolina operated 'the store' on Federal Hill.

In June, 1933, Edith and Paul married and became parents of three sons: Ronald, Nicholas, and the late Paul David Cardarelli of Saunderstown. 'Grandma' to many including Paul Cardarelli of Arizona, Steven Cardarelli of California, Andrew Cardarelli of Florida and Jason Cardarelli of North Providence; Michael Brown, Matthew Brown, and Melissa Brown Girard, all in Rhode Island, she was the loving and proud Great-Grandmother of fourteen. She is also survived by Malcolm and Diana Cardarelli-Brown of Jamestown.

Edith was a long-term employee of Providence Metallizing Co. where she set the standard for hard work and dedication, retiring at age 80. As a member of the DaVinci Senior Center, she remained spirited, active and fun-loving into her nineties, continuing her daily bus jaunts throughout Rhode Island. She was well known for her love of pies, pastry, and all things sweet.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 10am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Ann Church, Hawkins St., Providence. Calling hours are Thursday 4-8pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. www.marianiandson.com
