George Marion Obituary

MARION, GEORGE H. JR., 74, of Rosemont Terrace, passed Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lucille 'Lu' (Doiron) Marion. They have been married for 48 years.

Born in Central Falls, a son of the late George H. Marion Sr. and Yvette (Frechette) Marion. George resided the past 13 years in Lincoln and previously was a longtime Cumberland resident.

He had been employed for 35 years by Tech Industries, now Portala Tech of Woonsocket before retiring. He was a Korean War Veteran.

Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, David P. Marion of Woonsocket, Alan K. Marion of Cumberland, Daniel T. Marion of Cumberland and Neal R. Marion of Georgetown, Texas, a daughter, Leslie Marion Desjadon, of Ballston Lake, NY, a brother, Paul Marion of Swansea, MA, 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Mahria, Dustin and Matthew Marion, Logan and Sergei Desjadon, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St., Albion at 10am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Friday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Association RI Chapter, 2915 Post Rd., Warwick RI 02886, or Hospice of Nursing Placement, 334 East Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860. I was so sorry to hear of George's passing. I worked with him for many years at Tech Industries and will always remember our conversations, especially about his trip to Alaska and all the adventures he had along the way. To my personal hero:
Dad you were the guy I went to after I broke my bicycle and couldn’t fix it. You were the guy I went to when I needed help nursing an old car back to life. You were the guy I went to after I bought a house and only owned a hammer. You were that guy I went to when I needed to blow off steam after a tough day. You where the guy I thought of first when I wanted to head up to Maine. While I am happy that ALS is no longer robbing you of your body, I am so missing that guy I always turned to. A regular guy who was my super hero. Some say you don’t appreciate what you have until it is gone. I always knew what I had, and it was pretty special.
