John Crawley Obituary

CRAWLEY, JOHN P., 86, of Armistice Blvd., passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores B. (Diggett) Crawley.

Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Patrick J. and Mary (Lavin) Crawley, he resided in Pawtucket since 1953. He was a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran; he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga. John served his country for 35 years and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Pawtucket until retiring in 1984. He was previously employed by the Saylesville Finishing Plant and the City of Pawtucket. John was a member and officer of the former James Stanton American Legion Post No. 5, Central Falls; member of Major Walter G. Gatchell VFW Post No. 306, Pawtucket and a member of the NALC.

He leaves two sons, John P. Crawley, Jr. and Patrick J. Crawley and his wife Mary, all of Pawtucket; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Baruch and her husband Benjamin of East Providence and Martha A. McNeile and her husband Stephen of Pawtucket; three sisters, Mary Matthews of Pennsylvania, Sister Eileen Crawley, PBVM of Central Falls and Catherine McCaffrey of Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Sean Patrick McNeile and the brother of the late Andrew J. Crawley.

His funeral with Military Honors will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 699 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mt.
