John Lombardi Obituary
92, formerly of Warwick, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at West View Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Carmela A. (Rozzi) Lombardi.
Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Aristide and Agnes (Schina) Lombardi.
A Marine Corps veteran of WWII, John, also known as "Johnny Fat", was the owner and operator of the Fountain Spa Restaurant for 50 years before retiring.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Jean Major and her husband Ray of West Warwick, Carol Anderson and her husband Elmer of North Kingstown and Thomas Lombardi of Johnston; four grandchildren, Sgt. Stephen Major (WPD) of Coventry and Lisa Guerreiro, Ryan and Nicholas Lombardi, all of Florida. He was the brother of the late Evelyn, Frank and Louis Lombardi.
His Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:45 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Catherine's Church, Post Rd., Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-7 pm. To the Lombardi family . this is Richard Amalfitano and grew up on fountain street across from the fountain spa. I live in Las Vegas now . When I come home to visit my mom Anna I always had to go and see John AKA Johnny fat . Italian toast and coffee milk the best . John gave all the kids a place to go after school and I thank him for getting us through our teen years so we did not get in trouble . we all will miss him and go Red Sox. love from my mom Anna and my best pal billy volte RIP John

Dear Lombardi Family:
We may have never met, but I knew Johnny well. My family operated an auto body shop on Fountain Street, and my Dad and I and others would go to Fountain Spa for lunch all the time. I was but a kid - 8 years old or so, but Johnny Fats always was kind and gentlemanly to me. Those lunches are unlike any lunch one can get today - home cooked right in front of you, all polished off with a fountain drink. Everyone patronized Fountain Spa, and through that, I met many of people who would later play an instrumental role in my life.
Johnny, baseball and politics. What better combination plate?
I know you each have wonderful memories of Johnny Fats and I hope that they provide you each with comfort and humor at this difficult time.
